I have been a member of BVCC since mid-2019. I’ve been interested in photography since I was young, as I had keen photographers over several generations in my family. My early work was family and holiday snapshots with Brownie and Instamatic film cameras, including a Polaroid.  My first ‘SLR’ camera was a Russian ‘Zenit E’ film camera – after which I moved to an Olympus OM20

I dabbled with developing film and printing in Black and white, but when the digital revolution came along, other life events took over. I had been using Canon point-and-shoot cameras for many years before my wife presented me with a Nikon Hybrid DSLR when I joined BVCC.

Being a member opened my eyes to what other people were doing, and I soon realised that I needed to upgrade my gear.  (Beware the bug – it’s a G.A.S!). I love experimenting with different subjects and methods. I’m always learning!

Natures Design:

This image just begged me to capture it. The spiral stamen are almost fluorescent, this actual photo does not do it justice.

Struggling:

BVCC makes regular outings during the year, and this tree was in a private garden in Mount Macedon. Its branches seem to be searching for sunlight.

Hanging on:
Floodwater over many years at Elmore Weir have eroded the bank on which this red Gum stands. It is still hanging on with its strong branching roots. The textures in its bark attract me.
