Photography, like flowers and music, gives inspiration to my life.  It is a way of transcending the ordinary to a captured moment of meaning and wonder.

From my wheelchair, I enjoy taking photographs of plants, flowers, the urban environment, street life, architecture and creating new perspectives, abstracts, and minimalist images.

Dahlia Judith Taylor:

This is quite an extraordinary flower.  It is a dahlia flower called Judith Taylor.  This type of dahlia is unusual, as its petals have split ends that travel in various directions, hence its type being called ‘fimbriated’.  This bloom was grown by a member of the Dahlia Society of Victoria.

As flowers bring me joy, so my photographic journey as a member of Berwick Viewfinders Camera Club includes flowers.

Tulip Twins:

Pictured are two tulips in a glorious show of yellow and red.  These two were in a patch at Tesselaar’s Tulip farm during their annual Tulip Festival.  I had to get quite low, leaning forward and down from my wheelchair.  They were so striking, I just had to capture them in all their splendour! This photo reminds one of life’s treasures and inspires me to keep learning photography.

Herald of Spring

Featured here is a King Alfred daffodil.  This photo means a lot to me, as I grew this from a bulb that I planted in a pot and watched it mature to bloom.  I hadn’t seen a King Alfred daffodil for a long time; I have childhood memories of being around them.
When daffodils are blooming, you know it’s not long before you’re leaving a crisp Melbourne winter behind
