Gail’s photographic journey began with a trip to Alaska and Canada in early 2017. Soon after her return from Alaska, she became a member of the Berwick Viewfinders Camera Club in an effort to improve her images.

Gail loves seascapes and waterfalls. The peaceful flow of water and nature provides serenity. Combine this with monochrome photography, whether it is dark and foreboding low-key monochrome images or bright and airy high-key monochrome images, and Gail is in her ‘happy place’

Gail’s images on display today include:

Gumtree in the Fog:

Taken on the road to Toorongo Falls this sturdy gum tree stands strong and tall on a cold foggy rainy day. The rain soaks the tree trunk, branches and leaves, showing the rich, beautiful colour nature provides. The fog swallows the bushland behind but the gum stands strong and alone in the paddock.

New Growth:

The gum tree begins to show signs of new life, symbolizing nature’s resilience. In the aftermath of the bushfire at RJ Chambers Flora & Fauna Reserve in Pakenham Upper, small, tender shoots of fresh green growth emerge from the scorched bark and branches. These new leaves, vibrant and full of life, contrast against the charred remains of the tree, slowly returning to its former beauty.

Autumn Colour:

This Autumn tree, taken at the beautiful Piranda gardens at Olinda, creates a stunning display as its leaves transform into vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and gold. As the leaves fall, they blanket the ground, creating a rich carpet of colour. The bare branches that remain show the strength and beauty of the tree, standing tall against the cool winds of winter that are to come.
