Extension Tubes for Closeup and Macro

An information sheet. Getting ready for Tutorial on Macro/Closeup on 28 August.

There are two main types of extension tubes.

(a) Non-automatic. That is, they have no electrical connections with your camera and hence there is no connection between your lens and the camera. they have no optics and are cheap. You have no control over aperture and fucus is manual.

(b) Automatic. There are electrical connections so your lens can still communicate with the camera. Depending of the tubes you will have control over aperture, focus, exposure.

If you are purchasing extension tubes then read about them carefully.

Here are some examples. Cheap = manual. More expensive = electrical connections.
